Dannevirke Operational Support

Fire Police were formed in Dannevirke in the early 1950's with 4 members. In 1979, that number went up to 6 members, which where it usually stands.
The fire district of Dannevirke covers up to Snee Road, approximately 25 kilometers north, to the Manawatu Gorge, approximately 30 kilometers south, and then from the Ruahine ranges through to the East coast giving a range of 80 kilometers. The Dannevirke Operational Support unit are responded to all calls that the Dannevirke brigade receives. The unit was recently received a donated Mitsubishi van which they have equipped with cones, signage, flares, and other essential equipment. Members train twice a month both with the brigade as well as on their own.
