Putaruru Operational Support
A regular sight in the area, the Putaruru Operational Support unit keeps busy attending over 200 calls annually. The unit has taken the safety of the Brigade, other emergency agencies and the general public to heart with the main goal being the provision of a safe workplace for fire fighters, ambulance and police officers at incidence of fire, motor vehicle accidents and all manner of emergency situations.
Putaruru 8629, the unit's response vehicle, stows traffic and crowd control equipment, and responds to all emergency calls in support of the Brigade's two fire appliances and in some instances, neighbouring brigades Tirau and Tokoroa. All members of the unit are invited to undergo medical training to co-responder level and since this extension was added to their duties, some medical and rescue equipment has been included to the vehicle's inventory to assist in a co-responding situation.
