Titirangi Operational Support
The Titirangi Fire brigade was formed in 1949 and the Fire Police/Operational Support members have always been an important part of the Brigade. Over the years they have provided coverage to Titirangi and a large part of West Auckland including Laingholm, Waiatarua and Piha and were known as the Titirangi Fire Police Corps, Titirangi Fire Police Unit, and now Titirangi Operational Support Unit. These days the members primarily cover the Titirangi first pump response zone.
Titirangi has a rather unique area and landscape with bush clad hills and lots of narrow winding roads - which can mean that even relatively minor fire calls can require Operational Support personnel attendance for traffic control and other duties. As well as traffic management, the members assist the Brigade with administration and training duties and on the fireground with duties such as salvage, lighting, first aid, communications, victim support and keeping members of the public safe.
