Waipara Operational Support

The Waipara VFB was founded, like many similar brigades, by a bunch of farmers worried about fire risk in the district. The brigade averages a little more than one call a week and sees the full range of incidents - MVAs, structure fires, medical calls, vegetation fires etc. In addition, the brigade was deployed to Christchurch after the earthquakes.
The Operational Support members are made up of two groups: old members looking to step back from more taxing operational tasks, and new members who for whatever reason don't wish to wear BA. Other than BA wearing, the Operational Support members fulfil most operational duties - driving, pump operating and firefighting.
