Wainuiomata Operational Support

The Wainuiomata Operational Support unit has been operating for nearly as long as the brigade. The unit responds to calls within the Wainuiomata urban and rural areas and also the southern end of the Hutt Valley from Avalon.
Their main duties are crowd and traffic control, salvage, scene lighting, refreshments, first aid and helicopter landing sites. The Wainuiomata Operational Support unit responds to all two truck calls within the Wainuiomata area and to all second alarm calls or greater and when requested within the Hutt Valley. The unit is very active and responds to about 100 calls per year on average.
